If you’ve been to San Diego’s OB Noodle House and had their Special House Fried Rice, this is my version of their dish. . It doesn’t taste exactly like theirs, but it’s close to it, and I am happy to say I experimented with my measurements the first time and it came out perfect! I hope you try this delicious fried rice. It has a balance of sweet, savory, and spicy.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of day old Jasmine Rice
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic Powder
  • Sugar
  • 4 Stalks of Chinese Broccoli – leaves separated from stems. Stems cut into 1 inch bit sized pieces
  • 1/4 lb of shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 lb of rib eye cut into 1/4 inch thick bite sized pieces
  • 2 Chinese sausages sliced
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 tsp Sriracha
  • 4 tsp chili garlic sauce
  • 3 tsp sambal sauce
  • 1/2 cup of diced onions
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • Dash of low sodium soy sauce
  • Green onion for garnish

Instructions:

  1.  Season your beef with  salt, pepper, garlic powder and 1/2 tsp of sugar OR you can substitute and use soy sauce instead of salt.
  2. Season your shrimp with salt and pepper.
  3. Beat egg with salt, pepper, and sriracha.
  4. Mix chili garlic sauce with sambal and set to the side.
    1. Blanch your broccoli stems for about 3 minutes and then add the leaves to the pot and blanch with stems for 2 more minutes.  Drain and rinse with cold water. Discard water.
  5. Heat oil in a wok and cook steak to your liking.
  6. Steak aside and saute shrimp until cooked through. Set shrimp aside.
  7. Add more oil to the wok if needed and saute onion until softened.
  8. Add the garlic and saute with the onions until fragrant.
  9. Set mixture to the side of the wok and add your egg. Let your egg set before scrambling.
  10. Add Chinese sausage to the wok to heat through.
  11. Add rice and mix with the ingredients
  12. Add the sauce and mix until rice is coated with the sauce.
  13. Add the steak, shrimp, soy sauce, and mix.
  14. Season with salt and pepper if needed.
  15. Drizzle rice with sesame oil and mix.
  16. Garnish with green onions.

Enjoy!
