FOOD TIPS
- I like to microwave my left over pizza between 30 seconds to a minute. I then heat up a pan and let the pizza sit on that pan until the bottom of the crust is nice and toasty. For breakfast, throw a yolky fried egg on top of it.. YUMMY!
- Make compound butter to better flavor your meats, seasfood, or veggies. Check out my compound butter recipes listed in my Creole Shrimp and Delmonico Steak recipes. Butter will last in the freezer for about 3 months. Make sure to roll your butter in saran wrap and place in a freezer bag before storing it in the freezer.
- Save time, precut your unwashed veggies and store them in an airtight container with a dry paper towel. The dry paper towel will absorb any excess moisturizer.
- If you buy premade salads that come in a bag or plastic container, store these salads in an airtight container with a dry paper towel. The dry paper towel will absorb any excess moisturizer.
- Don’t toss out extra rosemary or thyme. Store extra leftover rosemary and thyme in separate zip lock freezer bags, roll out the extra air, and seal tight. Place in the freezer until ready to use.
- Peel your ginger root use a spoon to scrape off the skin. Store ginger in a zip lock bag, roll out the extra air, and seal tight. Place in the freezer until ready to use. When you need to use it, use a microplane to grate the ginger.
- Want to chill that bottle of room temperature white wine so you can enjoy it sooner than later? Wet paper towel and wrap it around the wine bottle. Keep the bottle in the freezer for 10-15 minutes. Remove from freezer and remove paper towel. Pour yourself a nice glass of wine.
- If you don’t plan on using your limes, lemons, or calamansi right away, juice your citrus fruit and pour the fresh juice in ice cube trays. Every time you need it, just pop a cube out of the ice tray.
