On my last video, I posted corn dogs and wanted to use up the rest of the hot dog package. I decided to make LA street hot dogs. LA street dogs are sold outside of sporting events, LA street fairs, and night clubs/bars. It is basically a bacon wrapped hot dog topped with onions and bell peppers. This is great for lunch, dinner, serve it on your next bbq/tail gate party, or a late night snack. Guarantee that your friends and family will love it!
Ingredients:
- Jalapenos charred and sliced (as many as you want- I used 3 and divided it between 6 hot dogs)
- 6 hot dogs
- 6 thin slices of bacon
- 1 red bell pepper sliced
- 1 medium sized onion sliced
- salt and pepper
- butter
- 6 hoagie rolls
- mayo
- ketchup
- dijon mustard (optional)
Instructions:
- Char/grill/broil/roast your jalapenos until it is black on all sides.
- Set jalapenos aside in a bowl and cover it with saran wrap. Let this sit for about 15 minutes.
- Wrap 1 piece of bacon around 1 hot dog and repeat for all hot dogs.
- After 15 min has passed, remove stem and peel the skin off the jalapeno. Omit the seeds for a milder flavor. If you love spice, leave the seeds and thinly slice your jalapenos length wise.
- Turn on your cast iron skillet, once warm, place your hot dogs on the cast iron and cook your hot dogs until the bacon is nice and crispy on all sides.
- When halfway cooking the hot dogs, bacon grease should have spread on the other side of the skillet if so, saute your bell peppers and onions on this. If there is no grease, melt butter before sautéeing. Don’t forget to season the bell peppers and onions with salt and pepper.
- Once done, set bell pepper and onions and side in a bowl and mix with the jalapenos.
- Set hot dogs aside once done cooking.
- Melt butter on the cast iron skillet if there are no bacon drippings. Quickly toast the inside of the hoagie rolls.
- To assemble, place hot dog in hoagie roll, top with the bell pepper, onion. and jalapeno mixture, drizzle ketchup, mayo, and dijon (optional). Enjoy!
