The Best Steak Sandwich

Posted in : American Dishes, Beef, Sandwich on by : Ivy's Kitchen Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Super Bowl LVII is coming up soon, what will you be serving your guest? Why not serve them this awesome steak sandwich. The bread was so crispy on the outside and soft in the inside, the cheese melted beautifully creating a glue between the bread and ingredients. The steak was super tender and medium rare (how I like my steak), the tomato was juicy and the added peppery arugula paired well with the steak. I forgot to add dijon and mayo on the bottom bun, but that is optional.

I hope you give this recipe a try. I guarantee your family and friends will love it. Please don’t forget to give this video a like, as it will help me distribute this video throughout YouTube. I appreciate your guys support!

Serves 2-3

Ingredients:

  • Ciabatta Buns or Foccacia Buns
  • 12 oz ribeye steak
  • Garlic Salt
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Paste
  • 1/2 Yellow onion sliced into half moon shapes
  • 1/2 tsp fresh thyme
  • 2 pinches red chili flakes
  • Gouda Cheese or Provolone
  • Butter
  • 1 part mayo
  • 1 part dijon mustard
  • Baby Arugula
  • Roma Tomatoes
  1. Marinate your steak with garlic salt and black pepper. Make sure to rub the marinade on the steak. Marinate for at least 30 minutes on the counter.
  2. In a pan, on low heat, melt your butter with olive oil. Add your garlic paste and let it dissolve.
  3. Once dissolved, add your onions and season with salt, thyme and red chili flakes. Saute until the onions are softened.
  4. In another pan, heat the pan up so it’s smoking. Turn off the heat, add some butter and olive oil and your steak. Turn on your heat again. The reason I like to turn off the heat is so the butter will not burn.
  5. I like to cook my steak on high heat for about 3-4 minutes before turning it and lowering my heat to medium high. Make sure a crust develops before turning. Cook your steak according to your liking. I like mine medium rare.
  6. When steak is done, let it rest on a plate for at least 10 min.
  7. In the meantime, spread butter on the bottom inside of the bun and add your cheese on the inside top bun. Place buns (cheese side and butter side up) on a sheet that has been buttered.
  8. Toast your bread for 4-6 minutes at 375F or until the cheese melts.
  9. Spread 1 part mayo to 1 part dijon on the bottom inside of the bun.
  10. Top the bottom bun with arugula and tomato. Lightly season your tomato with salt.
  11. Add your steak and top the your sammy with the cheese side facing down on your steak.
