Hi Guys, my friend decided to make blistered Shishito Japanese peppers as an appetizer. This recipe only calls for 6 ingredients and is simple to make. Once you pop one in your mouth, you’ll keep going back for more, as these peppers are very addictive and delicious! There really is no set “measurements”, you will need to go by taste. Please watch the video as a guide.

Ingredients:

1 package of Shishito Peppers – about 8 oz

Olive Oil

Butter

Minced Garlic (about two cloves or more if you love garlic!)

Sea Salt

Ponzu sauce

Directions:

  1. Wash peppers and completely dry.
  2. Heat up oil (about a teaspoon) and butter in a pan (about 1 tablespoon of butter).
  3. Add garlic and sauce over low heat.
  4. Once garlic is fragrant, add the peppers in a single layer, and char your peppers. Use your spatula to gently press down on the peppers.
  5. Keep tossing peppers so the peppers get coated with the butter and garlic.
  6. When slightly charred, season with red chili flakes, turn up the heat to medium/medium high.
  7. When peppers are charged, add a splash of ponzu sauce.
  8. Scrape up the bits on the bottom of the pan and transfer pepper and sauce to a bowl.
  9. Season with sea salt and enjoy!
