I noticed a lot of my friends were posting sandwhiches on their social media accounts and I saw a steak sandwhich that looked so good that I wanted to recreate it at home. This sandwhich literally took me only 15 minutes to make. So if you’re looking for something quick to make, this is my go to recipe for you.
This is also perfect if you have any male friends or family coming over. We all know that men love their steak sandwiches.
Here is my recipe that serves 2 people.
- 12 oz New York Strip Steak
- Salt and black pepper
- Olive Oil
- Butter
- 1/2 yellow onion sliced into rings
- 1/2 tsp. of fresh thyme
- Mayo
- Baby arugula
- Ciabatta bread
- Your choice of cheese
- Heat oil in a skillet and saute onions with salt, pepper, and fresh thyme. Once carmelized, set onions aside.
- Season steak with salt and pepper.
- On the same skillet you cooked the onions, add a tablespoon of butter and sear steak on high heat for 3 minutes.
- Turn steak over and sear other side for 3 minutes. Reduce heat to low and cook for an additional 6 minutes.
- Set steak aside and tent with foil.
- To assemble sandwiches, slice steak against the grain.
- Add may to bottom bread, add arugula, tomatoes on top, onions, steak, cheese, and top of bread.
- Drizzle top of bread with olive oil and toast in panini maker.
