I love seafood. I especially love ordering mussels that gets served with a broth because I love dipping my crusty bread in that sauce. Perfect dish to make if you are a pescatarian or if you are being abstinent from meat.  You can serve this as an appetizer or eat as a meal. Not an original recipe, but made a few editions from the original one =)

Here is my recipe that will serve 2-3 people.

  • 3 lbs of fresh mussels
  • 1/4 cup of flour
  • 2 tbs of olive oli
  • Butter
  • 1 cup of chopped shallots
  • 2 tbsp of minced garlic
  • 14 oz can of diced tomatoes drained
  • 1/3 cup of italian parsley
  • 1 tbsp of fresh thyme
  • 1 cup of pinot grigio
  • salt and pepper
  1. Clean the mussels and remove beard as shown on the video below and discard any mussles that will not close.
  2. In a pot, heat up the butter and olive oil.
  3. Saute garlic and shallots in the pot and cook until translucent.
  4. Add tomatoes, parsley, salt, pepper, thyme, and wine.
  5. Bring mixture to a boil and add mussels.
  6. Cover pot and cook over medium heat until all mussels are open.
  7. Make sure to shake the bottom of the pot so the mussels will not burn.
  8. Discard any mussels that do not open.
